On-Detector Machine Learning for Beam-Induced Background Rejection at a 10 TeV Muon Collider

By D. Abadjiev et al. · arXiv:2608.21327
A 10 TeV muon collider's most stubborn detail is beam-induced background: muons decaying in the collider ring spray the vertex detector with hits that overwhelm occupancy and blow through readout bandwidth. This work asks whether the rejection can happen on the detector, before readout — three families of lightweight neural networks read pixel cluster shapes to separate background from collision products, with high-level synthesis used to check the designs would actually fit in silicon. The selected architectures reach 88–90% data reduction at 99% signal efficiency, inside resource budgets compatible with an ASIC.
Why it matters · A muon collider is only viable if the background problem is solved in hardware — this is ML for HEP pointed straight at the machine, not at an offline analysis.
Caveat: Simulation plus synthesis estimates: no fabricated chip yet, and the efficiency is quoted at cluster level rather than end-to-end physics performance.

Next-to-Leading-Order Electroweak Corrections to Quantum Observables in Lepton-Lepton Collisions

By S. Chang et al. · arXiv:2608.27559
Entanglement and “magic” — a resource measure borrowed from quantum computing — have become fashionable collider observables, but almost always at tree level. This paper computes one-loop electroweak corrections to the entanglement entropy and the stabilizer second Rényi entropy for ℓ⁺ℓ⁻ → τ⁺τ⁻ and ZZ, treating the final state as qubits and qutrits. The corrections shift the regions of maximal entanglement and alter the magic generated: radiative effects reshape the quantum structure rather than merely rescaling it.
Why it matters · If quantum observables are to serve as precision probes at a future lepton collider, they need the same loop-level treatment as any cross section. This is the first step.
Caveat: Virtual corrections only — real radiation and detector effects, which dilute entanglement measures in practice, are not included.
